About Us

Focus Driving School is owned by Ben Eliot who has many years experience as a Driving Instructor in Cairns. Ben is also a qualified Defensive Driving Course Instructor. Focus is a family owned and operated business.

Having studied at St. Augustine’s College, Ben then attended James Cook University where he completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Human Services. Previously Ben worked in communications and sales & marketing for both national and international companies.

As a driving instructor Ben gets a real ‘buzz’ when his students pass. Although Focus Driving School is one of the most competitively priced driving schools in the region, the business has successfully developed a reputation for ‘outstanding professional service at fantastic rates’.

Learner Licence

Getting your learner licence
You can apply for a learner licence in Queensland when you turn 16.
You need to pass a road rules test before you can get your learner licence.
We suggest you complete the new interactive test online. It is called PrepL.
To prepare for the test, study the Queensland’s road rules. There is also a road rules refresher test.
Practicing the test online will help you decide when you are ready to take the test.

Your Learner logbook …
Apply online for your learner logbook
If you are 25 or older, you are not required to complete the learner logbook, however, it is recommended that you do.
For previous, interstate or overseas driving experience find out how to record your hours.
Focus also provides refresher courses and driving lessons to upskill jobseekers.

*Note: If you choose an automatic, you may only operate an automatic vehicle. Any new vehicles which you rent or buy must be automatic as well. If you want to drive a manual car in the future, you would be wise to learn on a manual which automatically allows you to drive both kinds of vehicles.
